Random thought here. I have a business selling things with my designs on them. Before now, I thought that more designs would equal more sales. But don’t think so. I think that there is a reasonable amount of a certain item that I can sell, and I don’t think having more options of the same item will increase my sales.
I think it’s reasonable to think I can sell 2-3 coffee mugs a day, average. Even if I have thousands of options, I’m probably going to sell about the same number of mugs. It will just increase my overhead. Instead of having more designs, I think I should put the same design on a different item. That would actually increase my sales. Selling 2 different mugs would likely make someone choose between the 2, but offering a mug and a shirt may make people get both.
