House Cleaning

Hey y’all,

Yesterday, I went out and cleaned a house!

It was my first cleaning job, and I’m so proud about it. I didn’t have any contacts to begin with, so I got out and began knocking on doors. Finally, I got a taker. A woman asked me to clean her porches off. I ended up cleaning more than just what she asked. In hindsight, I wish I’d taken more pictures, but here are a few – before is on the left, and after is on the right.

it’s still a bit wet

I began by scrubbing the porches off with my Scrub Daddy sponge.

y’all should totally sponsor me

That was pretty affective at getting the pollen stains off, but then I thought about it. Even though the Scrub Daddy was doing a good job at getting the dirt and pollen marks off the porch, it’d be faster to use my mop. So, I got out my mop and used water and vinegar (and, unfortunately, a bit of dish soap which I will not be using for this application in the future because of the suds) to clean off the porches.

I didn’t even know what to charge the lady when she asked, and she ended up paying me more than I asked for, anyway (She was a caring, grandmother-type woman). So, I’ve decided to work on a pay-what’s-fair basis in the future. Although it’s possible for me to get taken advantage of with that, it’s also possible for me to be paid more than I’m expecting.

Have y’all seen Aurikatariina on YouTube? She’s fabulous. She cleans really dirty houses for free for people who have had life be unkind to them. A lot of these people have a mental illness, but a few of them have just been in some unfortunate circumstances. None of them have enough expendable money to be able to hire anyone to do the intense cleaning that they need. Aurikatariina likes to clean as well as help people, and she is currently sponsored by Scrub Daddy 😉 to be able to give these people a fresh start. She lives in Europe (Finland, I believe), and I want to do something similar where I live. I don’t clean as well as her, but she went to cleaning school for years and has a lot of training. I may not clean quite as well, but I do clean alright, and nothing scares me.
