Inflammation and Chronic Disease

Hey y’all,

I really want to shine a spotlight on the connection between chronic disease and inflammation. There are always people that don’t fit into broad categories, but for most, chronic diseases like eczema, arthritis, fibromialgia, etc. are caused by inflammation in the body, and inflammation is hard-core linked to diet.

For 20 years, I suffered from severe eczema. I met with several dermatologists and other specialists, but none of them really helped. I tried different lotions, topical steroids, and home remedies. Nothing helped. Finally, I came across some information about diet. Eczema is not typically thought to be linked to diet, but I had nothing to lose. And, let me tell you, NOTHING worked as quickly or effectively as changing my diet.

I cut out inflammatory foods altogether for a long time. An easy way to remember these is with the acronym FREDG. This stands for Fried foods, Refined sugar, Eggs, Dairy, and Gluten. After a year, I was able to add some of this back into my diet, but eating gluten had to disappear along with my eczema.

A magical supplement that will help your liver clean up the inflammation is Milk Thistle. I used it every day when I first changed my diet, and now I take it in spring to help with allergies, and I keep some in my purse for surprises almost like an epi-pen.

If you have a chronic disease, I can guarantee you (like 95%) that cutting out FREDG foods and taking Milk Thistle will help immensely.
